 H-series of 12th Gen Intel Core Mobile processor family - Core i9 12900HK - with a base power of 45 W, 5.0 GHz max turbo frequency, and scalable architecture for all laptop segments, built on Intel 7 process. It also announced new U- and P-series mobile processors for "thin and light laptops.

Intel also announced that 22 new processors (65 W and 35 W) will join the 12th Gen Intel Core desktop processor family and range from Intel Core i9 to Pentium and Celeron. Intel also introduced new Intel Laminar Coolers that accompany the new 65 W processors.

Intel introduced the new Intel H670, H610 and B660 chipsets that will support broad consumer processors. The new chipset options deliver features like PCIe 4.0 lanes, integrated Intel Wi-Fi 6E (Gig+) and Intel Volume Management Device (VMD) - as well as support for memory and processor overclocking.

H-series processors will be focused at "enthusiasts". The company claims that the new 12th Gen H-series is the "fastest mobile processor ever" with up to 40 per cent better performance. Intel also claims that the H-series processor will be the "world's best mobile gaming platform". The new processors will also cater to content creators with support for smooth video editing, 3D modelling and rendering.

H-series of processors will feature up to 14-cores - 6 performance cores and 8 efficiency cores - with Intel Thread Director. They will have a broad memory support for DDR5-4800\LPDDR5-5200 and DDR4-3200/LPDDR4x-4267 modules up to 4800 MT/s. For connectivity, the processor will also support Wi-Fi 6E (Gig+), and Thunderbolt 4 that can apparently deliver transfer speeds up to 40 Gbps and PC connectivity to multiple 4K monitors and accessories

In terms of gaming, Intel claims that the Core i9 12900HK will offer 28 per cent faster gaming compared to Core i9 11980HK.

During a pre-briefing for the H-series processors, Intel demoed the game optimisation of the new chipset with the example of Hitman 3. Intel claimed the processor was able to offer up to 8 per cent higher FPS.

"Tuning games to achieve maximum performance can be daunting," says Maurizio de Pascale, chief technology officer at IO Interactive. "But partnering with Intel and leveraging their decades of expertise has yielded fantastic results - especially optimising for the powerful 12th Gen Intel Core processors. As an example, anyone who plays on a laptop powered by Intel's 12th Gen Intel Core Mobile H-series processors is going to experience Hitman 3 in the best way possible."

 Intel is working with brands like Adobe, Blackmagic design, Wondershare and Foundry for improved experience of graphic design, product design and manufacturing, simulation, etc. The company claims that with Core i9 12900HK can offer 44 per cent improved performance on Adobe Premiere Pro and 10 per cent improved performance on Adobe Lightroom. Intel also says, users may see up to 43 per cent higher performance in 3D rendering generation-over-generation.

Intel has confirmed that the new H-series processors will be adopted by major brands like Acer, Dell, HP, Lenovo, MSI, Razer and ROG, and will power systems available starting February 2022.

12th Gen U and P-series mobile processors

The 12th Gen Intel Core mobile family also includes the new U- and P-series mobile processors. With up to 14 cores and 20 threads and featuring Intel Iris Xe integrated graphics, the new P-series processors operate at 28 W base power and are designed for thin-and-light laptops, while the U-series processors operate at 9 to 15 W and are designed for form factor optimised for thin-and-light laptops. These processors will largely be seen in foldables, two-in-ones, detachables and other similar products.

The 12th Gen Intel Core U- and P-series mobile processors will be available in the first quarter of 2022, including devices designed for both Windows and Chrome operating systems.

Intel Evo 3rd gen

At the event, Intel also announced updates to the Intel Evo platform. The third-edition specifications come with new set of system requirements and tests called "intelligent collaboration", which the company claims ensures an enhanced experience when collaborating though videoconferencing apps on a PC with the help of tech like AI-based background noise cancellation, integrated Intel Wi-Fi 6E (Gig+), and optional AI-accelerated camera imaging effects.
