WhatsApp's new feature listed in the App Store.
To access these features, iOS users will first have to download the latest version of WhatsApp from the App Store. Here's a quick look at what the new features are and what they entail:
Pause and resume recording of voice messages
WhatsApp users on iOS will now be able to 'pause' and 'resume' voice messages while recording them, instead of having to re-record the entire message again.
Voice message recordings can be paused and restarted.
To use the feature, after you tap and hold the voice recording icon on the app, swipe up to lock the recording; you will see new 'pause' and 'resume' buttons, tap on them to take break between recording a single voice message.
Notably, even if you exit a chat while recording a locked voice message, the recording automatically pauses and does not get deleted like it used to happed earlier.
This feature is reportedly also rolling out on the desktop app now.
WhatsApp has been testing this feature since October last year and the public version has only been rolled out for iOS users now.
Focus mode
WhatsApp for iOS now also has support for Focus mode (only valid for iPhones running iOS 15). The feature lets users add certain contacts whose notifications are shown even when the mode is on.
Notification image
Users will now be able to see the profile image of the contact alongside the notification they receive on WhatsApp. This is akin to the notification label that the Twitter app currently displays.
Notification labels will now include display pictures.
Besides these features, WhatsApp is also working on several new features currently.
The platform is also testing Message Reactions which will let users react to messages with emoji, similar to Instagram.
