YouTube Premium includes ad-free YouTube and YouTube Music, offline and in the background.
YouTube Premium is being offered at Rs 1,159 for 12 months and doesn't automatically renew. The promotional pricing ends 23 January.
Annual YouTube Premium plans have been rolled out in the United States, Canada, Mexico, Brazil, Russia, Turkey, Germany, Thailand, India, and Japan. Meanwhile, YouTube is also offering the following individual prepaid plans:
Rs 399 for a three month plan
Rs 139 for a one month plan
All three plans are prepaid where the customer needs to pay the fee upfront and are not enrolled in an ongoing subscription with a prepaid plan. The paid membership benefits will end after 1-year or 3-month or monthly period that the customer paid for. To maintain access to their benefits, they would need to make another purchase to top up your membership.
However, existing YouTube Premium or YouTube Music customers who want to switch to an annual plan first need to cancel their existing membership.
Meanwhile, customers can also purchase an individual subscription plan which costs Rs 129 a month after a one month trial period. For a subscription plan, automatic payments such as credit cards are required as billing recurs monthly. Users can cancel at any time.
Meanwhile YouTube also lists the following family and student subscription plans:
Rs 189 per month family plan with one month free trial
Rs 79 per month student plan with one month free trial
However, due to the new Reserve Bank of India e-mandate notification which was introduced in December 2020, Google says it won't be able to offer a free trial, family memberships or student memberships in India. Google also clarified that new sign-ups for an ongoing subscription to YouTube Premium or YouTube Music Premium are also not possible at the moment in the country.
