Windows 11 changed how we knew our favourite PC operating system for years. The new designs, all so beautiful, gave a new life to PCs, largely because everything was reworked from the ground-up.But there were still a few things that were reminiscent of the past, of the Windows 8 era. The volume bar is one such thing and Windows 11 will finally change that, too. Microsoft announced a new volume indicator is coming to Windows 11 .
The new volume indicator is more relevant to the current theme of Windows. The volume flyout will now show up in the centre when you press volume keys to adjust the setting on your PC. "These new flyouts will appear when you press the volume or brightness keys on your laptop and will honor light/dark mode to give you a more coherent Windows experience," said Amanda Langowski, chief of Microsoft Windows Insider programme.
Windows 11's new volume bar is progressively better than the old one, which arrived as a part of Windows 8 back in 2012. Microsoft claimed that Windows 11 would bring the biggest design overhaul, so things as minute as the volume bar matter. And it is a welcome change because flyouts, such as those for system volume, brightness, and other settings, make for a holistic experience for an operating system.
In the blog post, Langowski also mentioned a new call experience in the Your Phone app on Windows 11. The icons look flatter and the fonts are also new, according to the screenshot of the new interface. There are other changes coming to Windows 11, as well. For instance, the touch keyboard themes will show on emoji panels and everywhere else for inputs, as well as the Clock app will now be uninstallable in Windows 11.
Pressing the Win+X key or right clicking the Start icon will now say "Installed apps" instead of "Apps & Features" in the menu. If you ever wanted to pin the voice access tool to the taskbar or Start menu, you will be able to do that with the upcoming update. There are also a bunch of fixes in the update for Windows 11, which Langowski has noted in the blog post.
All the new stuff is currently available to Windows Insiders through Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 22533. This means not every Windows 11 has access to the new features. Microsoft has moved to the cycle where it will roll out one major update annually and minor ones throughout the year. But I am not sure if these features will be available as a part of a minor update or a major one. There is no date for their wider rollout either, but you can expect these features to arrive sometime this year.
